Someone You Should Know: Charlie Hides

Charlie Hides TV a Drag Queen you should know.Late one night while scouring Youtube, we found this Diamond in the rough. Charlie Hides TV Channel. This actor from the UK burst onto the Youtube scene in March 2011 and is one of dragqueendiaries pick for someone to know and watch!

Charlie is known for comedy parodies and plays all the parts. He can be seen impersonating Madonna, Cher, Lady Gaga, Streisand, Sue Sylvester, and Liza Minelli. He also does his own characters like Laquisha Jonz and Kandi Kane Baxter.

What Charlie doesn’t realize or maybe he does, is that his production is top notch, and his comedy writing is pure gold. Through the summer Charlie did a running skit pairing Lady Gaga and Madonna called Madonna’s Gaga Nightmare. It was absolutely the funniest thing. Charlie has already passed the 2 million video views mark.

Charlie puts out a new video every Wednesday and the latest pits Madonna against Elton John, and the one minute clip is a hoot!

First Listen: Adam Lambert “Trespassing” CD Drops March 20th.

Adam Lambert Releases Trespassing on March 20th.Glambert fans are in for a real treat! As most of us know Adam Lambert is currently finishing up his second album now titled “Trespassing“. What we don’t know is how great this CD is going to be. With the lead single “Better Than I Know Myself” not even charting in the Billboard Top 100, Adam fans should be wondering if this release will even get much notice at all. “Trespassing” is set to be released on March 20th. So far no other big artist has a release date set on this date so this is a good thing for Adam. Could Madonna decide to release MDNA on the same date? That would not be good…

CD sales tend to be like movies, the first week is big then a decline in sales. What will we expect from “Trespassing”?

So far there are 7 tracks that we know of, and here they are:

“Trespassing” – The title track and is rumored to be like Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”

“Cuckoo” – This is supposed to be the HUGE Party song on the CD. From what we’ve read, it sounds like fun.

“Broken English” and “Outlaws of Love” – Are two more power ballads similar to “Better Than I Know Myself”.

“Underneath” – the darker side of Adam.

“Kickin In” and “Chokehold” – Two more party jams, with “Chokehold” being inspired by 90′s Depeche Mode.

Very Intriguing indeed. Well Glambert fans, we have two months to wait and see just how stunning this CD is going to be. We are totally looking forward to it.

Are you looking forward to Adam Lambert’s “Trespassing” CD?

Culture Club Rock Sydney in 2012 without drummer Jon Moss

Boy George and Culture Club Reuniting 2012

Boy George and Mikey Craig 2012.

Happy belated New Year everyone! Well, this just in. Back from Sydney and what a blast it was! The Resolution concert performed on NYE at Glebe Island, was a great sensation. Not only did we get to see Pet Shop Boys, Jamiroquai, and Pseudo Echo but the main event after the fabulous fire works was Culture Club with front man Boy George returning to the fold.

The band took the stage just after midnight and couldn’t have sounded better. One thing that was missing was Jon Moss. Jon apparently suffered a back injury and couldn’t make the show. I just have to wonder if Jon is going to somehow back out of the reunion. Not a lot is being said about his not being at the Dubai concert, which from youtube vids sounds amazing as well.

Will “Universal Love” be Culture Club’s official lead single from the untitled new album? Only time will tell, but at first listen which was the third song in at the NYE concert, our ears were very happy. It’s a cross between “Luxury and Heartache” and “Don’t Mind if I Do”.

Listen to “Universal Love” Live below:

So what do you think is Jon going to pull out of the Culture Club reunion? We hope not, it would be nice to see the band return to the top of the charts, with Boy George not smoking, his voice sounds very healthy again!

Boy George & Culture Club Reunion is Official! Band Reunites for 2012

Culture Club Reunite for 2012Boy George and Culture Club fans have been waiting more than ten years for the band to reunite, and in a November 15th televised interview for Sunrise in Australia, fans finally got the answers they have been waiting for. It was so nice to see the band back together. Boy George announced early in the year that a reunion was coming, but longtime fans on the band know that things can change, and reunions are usually skeptical.

In this interview we can clearly see the band back together in a studio setting. But watching closer, one can’t help be feel that maybe Jon Moss (the bands drummer and George’s Ex) doesn’t look that all happy about it. Jon occasionally will roll his eye’s when George is speaking. The reunion no doubt will happen, although I’d wager it won’t be a long one.

Culture Club was in it’s prime in the mid 80′s and the last reunion and new CD, didn’t fare that well. So it will only be a matter of time to see if this reunions and new CD will spark a longer reunion. Currently the band has plans to play live at Sydney Harbour on New Year’s Eve, with a great line up that includes the Pet Shop Boys.

This is quite exciting news for us longtime Culture Club fans, what about you are you looking forward to the 2012 Reunion?

First Listen: Susan Boyle’s “Someone To Watch Over Me” CD Review

Susan Boyle's third CD "Someone To Watch Over Me"It’s been two years since Susan Boyle’s rise to fame, and in that time she has broken record sales, appeared on many TV shows and gained a legion of fans, myself included. So it breaks my little heart to have to give this third album “Someone To Watch Over Me” a less than favorable review.

If Susan was the happy person she has shown the world to be, you wouldn’t know it with this release. The opening track is “You Have To Be There” a song where Susan begs her God to be near her. She is lacking faith? The song is the only song on the album that is actually joyful sounding even though it is very dark.

Up next for the misery is the lackluster and even sleepy “Unchained Melody”. You would think this would be a great song for Susan, and she does hit a few notes to show her range, but the tempo and lack of any other musical elements makes this song a skip. That brings us to the goth of Depeche Mode’s hit “Enjoy The Silence”. This is decent, and contemporary; will you be singing it in your car doubtful. “Both Sides Now” and “Lilac Wine” are both slow and sleepy. That will bring us to “Mad World”

Yet another song of darkness and gloom. Susan seems to be a little breathy in this one yet it seems to suit the song perfectly.

Two more forgettable songs “Autumn Leaves” and “This Will Be The Year” lead us to the only song on the album that actually challenges Susan’s voice “Return” opens her up and at the end she has her Soprano voice well into the heights that made her famous in the first place. “Someone To Watch Over Me” closes out the album at a weak one minute and some seconds.

So if you like your songs dark, minimal (most songs are just piano and strings) and you like you albums to only have 10 songs. Then this one is for you.

Susan Boyle has now spent three albums with producer Steve Mac. The first outing was great, the second was just fair. This one however…Three strikes and your out.

Suggestion, maybe Susan could get together with David Foster. That would be a welcome album for sure!

Lady Gaga leaks “Marry the Night” CD Cover over Twitter

Lady Gaga leaked cover art Marry the NightThe queen of all media, Lady Gaga has leaked the cover work for her 5th single “Marry the Night” on twitter today. Lady Gaga was spotted in NYC for the past week filming her new video. Plans on the released of the single is still November 23, the video still has no release date.

This is one of our favorite singles off the CD “Born This Way”.

The cover shows Gaga on top of a car with a burning car in the background.

So are you excited about the new single/video?

First Listen: Aqua “Megalomania” CD Review

Aqua's third cd MegalomaniaIt’s been over 14 years since Danish pop group broke onto the scene with “Barbie Girl”. What’s harder to believe is that it’s been 11 years since the groups 2000 release “Aquarius”. In July 2001 the band split and fans thought that was going to be the end of Aqua.

In 2009 the band resurfaced with a greatest hits package and two new singles. Rumors swirled and to the delight of millions of fans Aqua has reunited to bring us possibly the best offering yet. “Megalomania” is the bands third CD, and was released on October 3rd. You can purchase the import on October 18th. There is no word yet if Universal Records will release the CD state side, which is a shame. So let’s get into this gem of a pop album.

Perhaps the first thing that will catch your ear is that this is an adult recording. The Aqua sound is still here, but sounds much more polished. Lene’s voice sounds absolutely brilliant as does Rene’s.

The CD opens with the somber “Playmate to Jesus”. This is a lush and gorgeous song “Love spreads Love” as Rene chants. The album kicks into high euro dance with “Dirty Little Pop Song”. Rene sings “I Wanna Buy What You Sell, So Let’s Cut  To The Chase, You’re a Mad Fucker Baby And Your Pimp Is The Bass.” as you can tell we told you this was a grown up version of Aqua!

The next track “Kill Myself” is a perfect teen angst love song. That brings us to the biggest anthem and controversial song in this set “Like A Robot” basically it’s Lene telling her man not to “Fuck her like a robot” The lyrics are tongue and cheek and possibly the best Aqua tune to date! “Viva Las Vegas” is a pleasant uplifting diddy that you can’t stop tapping your foot too. “Party Patrol” sounds like something Lady Gaga could have recorded, it has all the synth feel of Poker Face as is so delightful to listen too! “Come N Get It” slows things down a bit, with a nice bump and grind. “Sucker For A Superstar” is the rock/pop song on the CD.

“Be My Saviour Tonight” reminds us of 2009′s hit “My Mamma Said” Sweet vocals on sweet synths make this a stand out Aqua reunited for 2011track, this leads us to the first single from the CD “How R U Doin”. This was the track that told us this CD was going to be DANCE, and Dance hard! The last track is “If The World Didn’t Suck (We’d Fall Off)” This is a slower tune and rounds out the CD well.

It’s nice to have Aqua back, and doing what they do best. Put a smile on your face. This is not thought provoking music but it will make you happy. Yes life in plastic is fantastic!

Lady Gaga New Single, New Remix CD, New DVD, Tour in 2012

Lady Gaga 5th Single Marry The NightLove her or Hate her one thing stands clear, Lady Gaga you need a break! Seriously…

The fifth single from GaGa’s multi-platinum album Born This Way is the fan favorite dance holy track “Marry The Night” which was produced by Mr. Fernando Garibay and it’s inspired by GaGa’s love for her husband-hometown, New York City. The single will be released on November 21st to coincide with GET THIS…

ANOTHER REMIX CD! Yes you heard it here, Born This Way – The Remix…This worked for her first release, but do we really need another Gaga Remix Album? Are we the only ones who thought that Born This Way, wasn’t really all that great? At least we will get another wild “Marry The Night” Video. Apparently Lady Gaga spent the weekend filming the video.

Also on November 21st we will get “The Moster’s Ball” DVD. This was a great concert, but seriously a DVD? Just tape it off HBO it’s basically the same thing…

Another tour in 2012, Now you really know that Lady Gaga is either out of her mind, or knows that her fame will slowly fade and in five years or so people will be saying Lady Who??

What do you think, does Gaga need a break? Are you excited by this news? Us not so much, I think she’s worn out her welcome!

First Listen: Erasure: “Tomorrow’s World” CD Review

Erasure's 14th studio album "Tomorrow's World" coverIt’s hard to believe that Vince Clarke and Andy Bell have been Erasure now for a quarter of a century. In that 25 years Erasure has released some of the most prolific pop songs in the 80′s they released “O’h Lamour”, “Who Needs Love Like That”, “A Little Respect”, “Chains of Love”, and “Sometimes”. In the 90′s they released such gems as “Blue Savannah”, “Chorus”, “Love To Hate You”, and “In My Arms”. When the year 2000 came, Erasure fans thought that it was all over when the band released “Loveboat” although the album released two singles “Freedom” and “Moon & The Sky” neither failed to chart well. In 2003 they released “Other People’s Songs” an interesting concept, but again failed to chart or sell well. “Nightbird” released in 2005 was the Erasure most fans could identify with, and as a result the set spawned the international hit “Breathe”. 2007′s “Light at the End of the World” had one hit as well with “I Could Fall in Love with You”.

Now 4 years later, the duo’s 14th release “Tomorrow’s World” is at last here. Being a long time Erasure fan, I can say that at first listen nothing really jumped out at me, however after a couple more listens, the Cd really starts to grow on you. The curious first single “When I Start To (Break It All down)” Would not have been my first choice as a single, the song is great and showcases a familiar Andy Bell voice, and classic Vince Clarke keyboards, however it doesn’t give you the right vibe of the CD.

This “Tomorrow’s World” CD is full of beat and bass. “I Lose Myself” has little “The Circus” keyboard riff’s in it, and could have easily been the first single. The official second single from “Tomorrow’s World” is the airy “Fill Us With Fire”

The only major complaint is that this CD is SHORT. If you don’t get the deluxe version, it only has 9 new songs. Come on now guys, 4 years for 9 songs? The run off songs must not have been that great, if the record company didn’t want to release them…oh well lots of B’sides right?

Erasure fans, give the CD a chance, after 3 or 4 CD’s you will realize that this is Erasure’s best CD in a long while. Check out the teaser video for “Tomorrow’s World” below.

Overall Grade: B+

TOMORROW’S WORLD VIDEO

Nancy Botwin Shot?!? Will Weed’s Return for Season 8?

The 7th season of Weeds has had us fast forward 3 years and 2 months, and during that time not a lot of information has come out of it. In true Weeds form the Botwin’s take the Big Apple by storm leading up to last nights most shocking and seemingly rushed season finale.

If this is the Series finale, will you be happy with the outcome? I mean Nancy giving a toast in her new CT. compound shared by her sister and two daughters, Shane, Andy, Stevie, Doug, and Silas. Then you see one of the girl’s pointing a laser toy on Nancy’s forhead, before the camera pans to the bushes were the real sniper was taking aim.

OK…who was in the bush? Was it the cop? Was it Guilermo? Lots of interesting things to think about, which would lead us to believe that there will be a season 8. Showtime has already greenlit a season 3 of The Big C, so what gives? Why the delay for announcing if this was the season 7 finale, or the series finale?

According to weed’s creator Jenji Kohan, the idea of another season is still there. This is also good news. Personally we think the finale was good but a bit rushed, a lot was crammed into 24 minutes, which in itself is mind boggling.

Little boxes on the hillside…

There are many more questions to be answered here.

If there is another season of Weed’s will you return to watch it?
