Will Jackie Evanchos “Dream With Me” Debut at Number One?

Jackie Evancho "Dream With Me"It’s been a week since the debut from superstar prodigy Jackie Evancho “Dream With Me” the CD debuted at number one on the Canadian classic chart, number 4 on the UK albums chart (where it currently has dropped to number 14.) And we are on pins and needles waiting it out for the official Billboard charts to be released on Thursday.

She actually felt bad that she knocked Lady Gaga off the number one spot of Amazon.com’s chart.

After seeing the PBS special how could you not be amazed by Jackie. Her stellar vocals are superior and clear, something that is missing in today’s beat, thump, bump market. To see an eleven year old with this much talent blossoming before our eyes, is truly magical.

The CD “Dream With Me” is a triumph on many many levels. Produced by Grammy Award Winner David Foster, it’s easy to see that Jackie is already putting some aces up her sleeve. The production is glossy, slick and the vocals are breathtaking!

So what are your thoughts, do you hope Jackie breaks into the Billboard charts at number one??

Weird Al Yankovics “Alpocalypse” is a Drag

Weird Al Yankovic "Perform This Way" in DragToday is the official release of Weird Al Yankovics “Alpocalypse” and from first listen I can confirm it is indeed a Drag! I have been a Weird Al fan since the beginning when he did the parody for “Mickey” by Toni Basil called “Ricky” that was great fun and Al has shown us he has come a long way.

The first reason that “Alpocalypse” is a drag, is that besides the obviously funny “Perform This Way” Lady Gaga’s spoof of “Born This Way” the CD isn’t entirely new. Out of the twelve tracks only 6 are new, with the others being leaked on the internet for the last two years. So without further ado lets get you a track by track assessment.

Leading off the CD is “Perform This Way” one of Al’s greatest spoofs and maybe on one of the most known singers in the world right now Lady Gaga. There have been lots of rumors and speculations as to why this song was not approved then it was approved, blah blah blah. But here it is and it’s a hoot.

The second single is a hard rocking metal song called “CNR” the CNR stands for Charles Nelson Rielly who was best known on the game show “Match Game”. This song lyrically is not that funny, and musically is just plain noise. Up next is the Taylor Swift parody “TMZ”  This is not that humorous, but the music is dead on.

“Skipper Dan” was leaked on the internet some time ago, and not that great of a track. “Polka Face” is up next and perhaps is one of the highlights of the CD. Lady Gaga, Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum are some of the polka’s pokes. “Craigslist” is the next track and while I tried to like this, again it’s just plain weird, and not in a good way.

“Party in the CIA” could possibly be the next parody single. Musically it actually sounds better then Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA”

The next track is a Wierd Al originally entitled “Ringtone” out of all the original songs, this one is the stand out track. It sounds like an ELO classic, with the vocals being doubled up like they did in the 70′s. The Carpenters were also known for using this style of vocals. “Another Tattoo” is next and is another dude. “If This Isn’t Love” is another Wierd Al gem. It’s a toss up if this song is better then “Ringtone” but it is a great 80′s power ballad, and could stand on it’s own as a single.

Next is the parody “Whatever You Like” having never heard the original, I couldn’t compare this one. But it is the only song on the CD to incorporate Al’s love of using food in the lyrics!

“Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me” finish’s off this CD much like “Don’t Download This Song” did on “Straight Outta Lynwood”

While this CD should satisfy most hard core fans, I doubt it will pick up any new ones. This CD is just mediocre at best. 2 kisses outta 5.

See Weird Al in drag with “Perform This Way

Britney Spears Femme Fatale Perfect Trends On Twitter

Britney Spears Femme Fatale ReviewBritney Spears Femme Fatale

It’s been just 2 days since the release of Britney Spears Femme Fatale CD, and fans from around the world are chiming in. Today FemmeFatalesPerfect has been a top trend on the Twitter network. So with this much buzz about the CD we thought we’d share are incite and give Britney Spears the DQD Music Review.

Femme Fatale is Britney’s 7th studio album, and for most of us who have moved on to become fans of other artist’s like Lady Gaga, it should come as no surprise to any of us, that Britney has still got staying power.

In our opinion the CD is a throwback to the late 90′s club sound. It has a bump and grind electro groove vibe to it, apparent from it’s lead of single “Hold It Against Me”. You might remember the Madonna song “What It Feels Like For A Girl” and that should give you a clearer understanding to what Femme Fatale has to offer.

It’s lead off track “Till The World Ends” and is now the official second single for release is a catch synth romp that deserves to be danced to. While not all songs on this CD have the pace set by the first two singles, Femme Fatale is maybe the second best Brit CD to be released. You just can’t ignore her first release.

What was amusing to us was a Twitter response from Lady Gaga herself saying to the effect that her monsters will never be bashing Britney, and that she wants Brit too succeed. This will be probably be OK till Lady Gaga, releases her “Born This Way” CD.

Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tracklisting:

“Till The World Ends”  – A Catchy Romp with Ke$ha at the writing helm.

“Hold It Against Me” – Infectious Dance Tune

“Inside Out” – A mid tempo song, and one of the best lyrics

“I Wanna Go” – More gloss, just a filler on the CD.

“How I Roll” – Should be a single.

“(Drop Dead) Beautiful [Featuring Sabi]” – Infectious beat and a great chorus.

“Big Fat Bass” – Produced with Will.I.Am if you love the Black Eyed Peas, you’ll dig this.

“Trouble For Me” – An R&B track with a dirty electro beat thrown in.

“Trip To Your Heart”  – Electro ballad (snoozy)

“Gasoline” – Another fun Mid Tempo song.

“Criminal” -  Another Snooze Ballad. We don’t like this song, but many of you Britney fans will love it.

Up N Down, He About To Loose Me, Selfish, and Don’t Keep Me Waiting are all Bonus Tracks available on the Deluxe Version.

The extra 4 songs are worth it, so we would recommend the deluxe version. Britney Spears Femme Fatale may not wow everyone, but for pop dance music, it’s worth a buy.

Admit It! Lady Gaga’s Born This Way is not Madonna!

Lady Gaga - Born This Way, Not Madonna!Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” is not Madonna’s “Express Yourself”

Or is it? It’s been a month since Lady Gaga performed “Born This Way” on the Grammy awards show, and now you can’t escape hearing the song whether it’s on radio, MTV, the Internet…the song is everywhere. It’s a number one smash for three weeks running on Billboard.

So is “Born This Way” a ripoff of Madonna’s “Express Yourself”? Well technically no! “Born This Way” is written in the key of G, while “Express Yourself” is written in the key of Fm. The songs also differ in BPM (Beats Per Measure).

When the controversy first started we really didn’t think anything about it, until we saw Lady Gaga on the Jay Leno Show shortly after saying the she had been given the all clear from “The Queen” that meaning Madonna. So has Madonna softened in her old age? I mean the two songs do sound identical, however Lady Gaga is going to sell many more records and downloads then Madonna did in her hay day.

We asked our resident DJ if he would do an exclusive mix, and what he came up with is pretty interesting. Starting with Madonna first then moving into Lady Gaga, it’s really apparent that Gaga really did take a big hook out of the “Express Yourself” song.

Does anyone really care anymore? Probably not, but thanks to the original controversy, both songs will probably get a boost in sales, even if it’s only for a short time!

So what do you think, are both songs the same or are they different???
