Desperate Housewives

Season 6; Episode 14

“The Glamorous Life”

(Originally Aired: 1/31/10)

Lynette doesn’t like that Dr. Graham always sides with Tom. Tom convinces her to attend a play the doctor is in. She’s terrible, which Lynette tells her, but Tom lies and says she was “Great.” Tom admits he likes to be the good cop, forcing Lynette to always be the bad cop. Tom finally admits he hated the play too, and the therapist orders them both out.

Bree is puzzled by Orson’s new found happiness, until she finds his suicide letter! She vows to watch him 24 hours a day.

Angie and Gaby clash over Ana and Danny. Angie convinces Gaby that it’s time for a safe sex talk, but when Carlos sees Gaby’s bought condoms for Ana, he threatens to kill Danny. He tells her that if Ana gets pregnant, she’ll be the one taking care of the baby.

Gaby writes Ana an unsigned check, which she’ll sign if Ana graduates high school without having had sex. But as Ana sees it, her promise not to have sex doesn’t include Danny. Carlos catches Danny with Ana and threatens to kill him. Angie barges in and shouts, “You ever touch him again, you’re dead.” Carlos and Gaby come over the next night to apologize and overhear Nick telling Angie that soon the truth about them will come out. I think Gaby will be keeping a closer eye on the Bolens from here on out.

As Susan is signing her self out of ownership of  Double D’s she meets stripper Robin, who she tells that it’s never too late to change your life, so she quits! And shows up at her house the next day. Now Susan feels responsible for her, so she hires Robin as her assistant at school. One of the students’ fathers, who just so happens to be one of the schools’ biggest financial supporters, recognizes her and she’s fired on the spot. Susan talks Mike into letting Robin move in until she finds a job.

Orson dares Bree to say she loves him and she can’t do it. She forces him to attend an anniversary celebration for an elderly couple and leaves him by the pool. She sees him about to wheel himself in and she runs to stop him. He asks what he’s got to live for her, if she doesn’t love him anymore, and she says, “I loved you once. I can’t recapture that if you’re not here.”

Desperate Housewives: “How About A Friendly Shrink?” (Season 6; Episode 13)

Original Air Date: January 17,  2010 (Season 6, Episode 13)

Lynette balks at the idea of seeing a couples’ therapist. Meanwhile, Katherine is seeing her own psychiatrist, Gaby and Susan are determined to find out which of if their kids are in the smartest group at school, and Angie disapproves of Danny’s new girlfriend, Ana!

Let me first start out by saying I used to love Bree and Orson together until the writers wrecked their storyline and made me hate Orson to the point I wanted him off the show.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Kyle MacLachlan, but Orson has been a pain in the behind and things are getting worse every week.

Tom and Lynette’s storyline this week was fun and touching at the same time. Tom told Lynette last week that they needed to talk about the loss of the baby and they desperately needed it even if Lynette denied it all the way to the shrink’s office. I could feel her pain as Lynette reluctantly started talking to the shrink (played by Frasier‘s Jane Leeves). It will be interesting to see how the Scavos cope with the upcoming therapy sessions and how it’ll affect them as a couple.

I’d like to go on the record right now by saying I was not a bit surprised that Angie didn’t like Ana and was ready to do anything possible to break Danny and Ana up. What surprised me about this story line was when Lee put in his two cents about the situation, and Angie actually following his suggestion to give Ana a chance.

And how cute was it to see Gabby and Susan try to discover what the animal groups really meant but it got old soon. Once again, both characters needed to make fools of themselves in order to learn how to be moms.

And FINALLY, we get to see Katherine!! Since we last saw her about 3 episodes ago when she was sent to the looney bin, she has had weeks of one-on-one time with her shrink to analyze her actions and return to reality.  I thought she looked genuinely better, and I did not believe she was faking it to her shrink, do you?

McCluskey comes to the rescue again! This time, she helped Katherine realize that she could return to Wisteria Lane and even convinced Lynette, Gaby, Bree, and Susan to come see Katherine.  It’ll be interesting to see how everyone copes with her return, including Katherine herself. I truly believe that Katherine is one of the best characters on the show right now, and she has been pretty much one of the people that kept me watching the show.

Comments??   Suggestions??   Love to hear from you!!

Desperate Housewives: Season 6; Episode 12: “You Gotta Get a Gimmick”

Desperate Housewives

Season 6; Episode 12

“You Gotta Get a Gimmick”

(Originally aired 1/10/10)

Family members gather to hear the details of Karl’s last will and testament. Much to her surprise, Susan receives ownership in a business. And what “very successful” business could Karl have been part owner of ? A strip club, of course! Susan meets the man who co-owned the place with Karl, when a stripper named Destiny introduces her self to Susan and mentions that she knows a Mike Delfino, and that he’s a regular customer. This is not going to go well for Mike.

Carlos and Gabrielle present Lynette and Tom with a new 60-inch TV. It’s the least they can do for saving their daughter from death. Tom offers to fill in for Lynette going to work for Carlos to take some of the workload off of him while Lynette is indisposed due to her pregnancy.  Of course Lynette hates the idea. Bree confesses to her reverand that she had an affair with dead Karl, and the guilt is killing her because she blames herself for Orson being paralyzed from the plane crash. The reverand urges Bree to take care of Orson — even if it’s the last thing she wants to do.Gabrielle, Juanita and Carlos meet with the principal of a private school for Juanita. This is where Juanita finds out she’s Mexican, even though she was born in America.  Bree meets wheelchair-bound Orson at the hospital and offers to bring him home. He would rather be taken care of by a “helper monkey”, but Bree insists.  Susan confronts Mike about the strip club, and he explains that the strip club is one of his accounts. She forbids him from going to the club. He doesn’t take it well.  Tom returns home from work and shows his wife a proposal he wrote. She volunteers to “fix it,” but it turns out that Tom doesn’t need the help. Carlos called the proposal “the best he had ever read”, which makes Lynette see red.

Bree discovers that Mrs. McCluskey has volunteered to take in Orson, claiming that “Once he gets the divorce settlement, he’s writing me a big, fat check!”  Bree forcibly wheels her not-yet-ex out of her home and into her own. And there’s nothing Orson can do about it. Or is there?? We’ll have to see how he plans his revenge.  Lynette goes to work to visit Carlos and make it clear that Tom is only a temporary fix and she is coming back to work after she has the baby. Carlos reassures Lynette that she can have her job back anytime she is ready. Turns out Tom told Carlos that Lynette was planning to be stay at home Mom to take care of the baby. This is not going to go well for Tom.

Ana wants to get closer to Danny, but “There’s not a lot of room to be into to you, because of how much you’re into you,” he explains.  Ouch.  Ana throws his overdose back in his face. At first he is furious at her, then suddenly interested in her.

Back at home, Gabrielle is preparing to celebrate the fact that Juanita got accepted into the private school.  Carlos has second thoughts and wants to send her to a public school with a large Latino population instead, forcing Gabrielle to face her Mexican Heritage.  At the strip club, Mike shows up to fix a bathroom under false pretenses. It was all a set-up by Susan who appears onstage as “Ms. Fix It” and begins dancing seductively on a pole.  Mike apologizes and swears to never come back to the club if Susan will stop gyrating, which he does, thank God!

Back at home, Orson has taken a new tactic with Bree: He is demanding EVERYTHING, including re-heated soup and dessert made from scratch. “I would get it myself, but …” he trails off as he gestures to his wheelchair.

So, what did you all think of the episode? I would love to hear from you!

Desperate Housewives: Season 6; Episode 11: “If…”

Desperate Housewives: Season 6; Episode 11

“If…” (originally aired 1/3/10)

In the hospital after the plane crash Carlos, Gaby, Lynette, Tom, Nick, Angie, Bob, and Susan are waiting for news on those hurt in the accident. Bree was banged up but will be okay. Karl, Mona, and Orson are all still in surgery. Celia has a concussion, but Carlos quickly points out that they have Lynette to thank for her still being alive.  Lynette suddenly experiences pain in her belly, and fears that there’s something wrong with the babies. As Lynette is taken to see a doctor, each housewife experiences a “what if” scenario:
Susan wonders what would have happened if she had stayed married to Karl. He promises to change and she promises to swallow her rage, so she gets fat. Mike arrives to fix the sink, and tells Susan if she’s unhappy she should do something about it. Fast forward three years later: she loses the weight but Karl leaves her anyway and Mike is married to someone else.  As Susan snaps out of it, the doctor tells her Karl is dead.

Bree is lying in a hospital bed, and dreams about what her life would’ve been like with Karl. He says being with her will make him into a changed man. But, of course, it doesn’t. He cheats on her and she kicks him to the curb. Seven years later, Orson dies of a heart attack and she’s called by his land lady to go clean out his apartment. It is full of pictures of Bree and the landlady says she thinks he died of a a broken heart. Bree awakes and the doctor says Orson’s out of danger, but there were complications and he may be paralyzed.

Angie and Nick wait to hear about Mona’s condition. She’s in a coma, but the nurse says she’s a fighter. Angie imagines Mona awakening and calling the police and pictures a future in which she gets life in prison without possibility of parole.  Back in reality at the hospital, Angie gets the word Mona is dead.

In Celia’s hospital room, Gaby says she thinks God saved Celia because she has a special gift. She’s not sure what yet, but knows it will be amazing. Gaby climbs in with Celia and falls asleep and dreams of what Celia’s amazing life will be. Gaby decides she’s meant to be an actress, even though she sucks at it. Carlos wants to send Celia to camp so she can have a normal life. Gaby won’t allow it, and Carlos leaves her. Many more years pass and a gray-haired Gaby, living in a dilapidated house is still pushing 25-year old Celia to be an actress. Gaby says she has to since she doesn’t want her life to have been for nothing. Gaby awakes a bit wiser knowing Celia doesn’t have to do anything amazing to be special, she just is.

A doctor looks over Lynette who has a tear in her placenta. One baby is fine but the other is at risk of being born developmentally challenged if they don’t operate. During surgery, Lynette imagines a life with a disabled child from the difficult physical therapy and lack of discernible progress, to watching him graduate from law school many years later and pay tribute to her for being where he is today. She awakens from surgery and Tom informs her they lost one of the babies. They were going to name him Patrick and he was going to be amazing!

Desperate Housewives Season 6; Episode 10: “Crash, Boom!”

Desperate Housewives

Season 6

Episode 10

“Boom, Crunch!”

desperateBoom

Disaster strikes the fair citizens of Fairview and particularly Wisteria Lane yet again. When will everyone finally realize this block is cursed and move!?

The hotly awaited and much talked about 10th episode of the 6th season, entitled, befittingly enough, “Boom, Crash!”  When I was expecting more drama, which i was in no mood for, this was probably the wittiest “disaster” episode in the series history.  Of course, there’s the mid-season cliff-hanger which every network seems to be high on nowadays, but the scenes leading up to the big plane crash scene were pretty great.

With the neighborhood setting up for their annual Christmas celebration, the episode goes back three days before the crash so everything can be set up for the impending tragedy. The married couple (the husband being portrayed by guest star Dan Castellaneta, otherwise known as the voice of Homer simpson) hired by Karl to fly their small plane over Wisteria Lane pulling a banner that reads, BREE, WILL YOU MARRY ME? LOVE KARL, was classic! While the couple bickers, the husband has a fatal heart attack and the wife is left to land the plane safely. Preferably NOT on a residential street. Of course we know that won’t happen.

Susan has finally gone completely nuts after losing Mike, to the point of stabbing herself and then pinning the blame on him.  Susan calls Katherine’s daughter Dylan (away since season 4) under false pretenses only to have Dylan tell Susan that her mother has been filling her head with stories of how Susan was trying to steal Mike away from her until Susan shows her pictures from the wedding. A confused Dylan then confronts her mother in the hospital, where she tries to say that Susan stabbed her and she never pointed the finger at Mike. When confronted with the truth, Katherine has what was probably her final meltdown.

The feud between Gabby and Lynette shows no signs of letting up, forcing Tom to drop out of college (when will this guy get a break already?) and Lynette to try and apologize to Gabby, but to no avail.  Bree presents Orson with divorce papers, and he finally finds out that Bree is indeed having an affair. A fight ensues in Santa’s Workshop. Bree tries to break up the scuffle to no avail and that’s the last we see of them before the plane destroys Santa’s Workshop with, assuming, all three left inside.

The Bolens on the other hand, have even bigger problems now that nurse Mona knows the truth about everything after Danny unwittingly told her. Mona tries to extort a huge sum of money from them or go to the police with what she knows. But, since at that moment the small plane crash lands and nurse Mona is presumed to be the first one to be offed.  We see everyone scatter as the plane slides down the lane, Lynette grabs a petrified Celia and pulls her out of the plane’s path (which should, by right, end her and Gabbys feud), but as I said, the plane took out most of Santa’s Workshop where Bree, Karl and Orson were last seen alive, we’re left with the realization from Mary Alice in the end, that one of them will have seen their last Christmas.

I have tried to avoid all the gossip about who dies and who lives, and I’ve read it all.  The reports are that 3 will parish. I prefer to wait it out until the season continues in January.  How bout you?  Any predictions? Comments?

Until Next Time!

Happy Holidays to All!

Desperate Housewives: Season 6 Episode 9: “Would I Think Of Suicide?”

Desperate Housewives

Season 6 Episode 9

“Would I Think Of Suicide?”

Desperate Housewives SuicideThis week’s episode of Desperate Housewives marked the beginning of the war between Carlos and Lynette over the fact that she is pregnant and hid her pregnancy as long as she could so she wouldn’t be fired.

Who will win the war? And will the Scavos and Solises ever be the friends they once were. We’ll Have to watch and see.

Katherine’s craziness has finally reached a boiling point for me. It was fun for a while but her antics to get back at Mike were getting a bit old. Did Katherine stab herself to get Mike’s back? Or did she do it because his final words to her  were more than she could bear?

Now that Bree and Karl have Susan’s blessing do you think it will change their relationship, now that someone knows? And what will ultimately happen to Orson in all of this? I didn’t think I liked the idea of a Karl and Bree relationship but I have to admit they’re growing on me as a couple. And, more importantly, is Karl capable of changing for ANY woman, let alone Bree?

We learned some more things about the mysterious Bolen Family this week.  Nick admitted to Angie that he was the last customer at the coffee shop and was there around closing time. Later, he also told Angie that he called the Feds. We know Angie killed a man and that is why she is on the run. Nick and Danny went along so she wouldn’t be alone.  Danny told Julie he still wants to be with her even though she slept with his dad. She rejects him, he tries killing himself with pills and while in the hospital, he tells a nurse his real name: Tyler.  Will the nurse live long enough to tell anyone?  If she does, this could be the end of the road for the Bolen’s.her and wants to be with her even if she slept with his father. She rejected him, which lead to Danny trying to commit suicide.

Then there’s the little matter of the Wisteria Lane Strangler. Mary Alice said that the killer is a “he” and “he” isn’t finished yet.  But are we sure the killer is, in fact, a “he”? Would Mary Alice mislead us? However, I do believe Mary Alice when she says that the killer isn’t done yet. Who’s next? The nurse who now knows Danny’s real first name? Or will the killer try to kill Julie again? Is the person who strangled Julie and the person who killed Emily the same person? Is there more than one killer?

If you’ve Seen the previews for next week’s episode, then you already know something big is about to hit Wisteria Lane. And I mean that literally. A plane crashes right on Wisteria Lane, and from what I could see, everyone is on the street!  The Ad also alludes to someone not surviving the crash, and someone else emerging a hero.  If you’d like to submit your predictions here, please do so, and we’ll see if anyone gets it right!

Until Next Time,

Happy Viewing!

Patrick Swayze Loses Battle With Pancreatic Cancer at Age 57

to-wong-foo_l.large

Patrick Swayze

patrick-swayze-now

The world of entertainment lost one of its nicest stars when Patrick Swayze lost his 20 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer on Monday evening at the all too young age of 57.  I can’t say I was shocked when I heard the news since I knew as well as everyone else, that it was going to happen someday, I guess I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon.

Swayze will forever be immortalized in roles such as that of the dance instructor in n, you know? 1987′s Dirty Dancing, which became a huge hit and for recording “She’s Like The Wind” which was featured on the film’s soundtrack, and for his role opposite Demi Moore in the 1990 smash hit Ghost, in which he plays a ghost (hence the catchy title) who returns to protect his grieving girlfriend (Demi Moore) from his killer.  Of course, there was the film The Outsiders in 1980, where he was first introduced to movie-goers thanks to Francis Ford Coppola.  Then, he tried his hand at being an action hero in such films as Roadhouse and Point Break.

But, probably his most underrated and under appreciated role of all came in 1995′s campy classic To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar in which Swayze along with co-stars Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo portray drag queens on a road trip to self-discovery.  But unfortunately, this film hardly gets its due for what it is, which, in MY opinion is a brilliantly acted and directed film, but because of the subject matter, seems to get swept under the rug all too often.

Sadly in March 2008, he had the unfortunate task of announcing to the world and his fans that he had pancreatic cancer.  Yet by July of that same year, he was in good enough health to begin working 12-hour days (while still undergoing chemotherapy) on a TV series, The Beast for the A&E cable network starring as an undercover FBI agent which premiered in January 2009 to 2.4 million viewers and it seemed he was on his way to re-inventing himself. The show ran for 13 episodes, but the long working days ultimately took its toll on Swayze, who started missing shows and the cable network chose not to renew it for a second season without their headliner. Early this year, he told ABC’s Barbara Walters that he hoped to live long enough “until they find a cure,” but he was “not going to chase the idea of staying alive….I’ll be here, or I won’t.”

He may no longer be with us, but his body of work, and unwillingness to give up the fight will be an inspiration for generations to come.

May God Bless and Keep You, Patrick Swayze…

And Until Next Time…
