Now for the most fun and creative part of doing your drag makeup. Are you going to go for a fierce and wild look? Are you going to be bit conservative? One thing is for sure these steps are pretty universal so don’t work so much about the colors. Picking eyeshadow color is all about you as an individual and your drag queen character. When picking a color think about the wig color as well as your outfit. In other words maybe have a plan, because once the eyes are done, it’s hard to go back and change them unless you start all over...
By this step you should have a full face of foundation, contouring, and shadowing and blushes done. We recommend doing your drag makeup in this order, but everyone is a little bit different. For example you may want to do your eyes first, that is certainly fine.
Drag makeup is supposed to be fun so lets get to those eyes!
1. Starting with the top of your own eyebrow line using a brush or an eyeliner draw a small arch in a half crescent shape. Make sure your line gets thinner towards the end. Make the eyebrow a little thicker towards your nose as this will help to get your eyes to appear bigger.
Tip: Eyebrow stencils can be used however their usage is limited so learning to freehand your eyebrows could save you money in the long run.
2. Using a white or light color brush a little under the eyebrow at the tail end, and a little on the lid. For really big eyes your drag makeup should be going slightly around the outside of your tear duct as well.
3. Next take a deeper color like a yellow and cover a third of your eyelid and blend.
4. Take a bright color to the outside third of the eyelid and blend that.
Tip: Take the bright color through the crease of the eyelid about halfway up and blend.
5. Using a dark black or charcoal color apply to the crease of the eyelid and blend, this will get the most dramatic effect. Make sure you brush the dark color under the eye with a thin brush, this will complement your eyeliner later.
6. Take a light color again with a little shimmer under the eyebrow for a nice highlight. Remember to blend, blend, blend.
Tip: A cut crease in the eyelid is not necessary but does yield good results. You can always skip this step if you wanted a monotone colored eye.
7. Apply your favorite eyeliner over the top and bottom of the eyelid.
Tip: For even more dramatic flare, create a highlight area under the eye above the blush color on the cheek. Blend this as well to get a really big eye and to help in contouring.
