Drag Makeup Tips: Eyelashes and Lips Tutorial

We’ve made it to the end of the series. Doing drag makeup can be time consuming if your a perfectionist, and hopefully you’ve picked up a few tricks of the trade. Being a drag queen whether it’s for halloween, or for the stage or maybe just to see what it would look like, we have some final tips for your drag makeup.

Eyelashes: depending on your preference we will show you how to use artificial eyelashes. If you don’t like the idea of using falsies then grab your favorite mascara and apply. With a good amount of product on the brush apply to your eyelashes in a blinking motion. Be sure to look up if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like things stuck in their eye. This will make it easier to apply. A few blinks will do, then let it dry and repeat if necessary.

Artificial Eyelashes: Be sure to put the glue on the eyelash and allow a couple of minutes for it to dry, this will help them to stay on longer. From the corner of your eye near the tear duct start putting them in place. Gently pushing them toward the start of your own eyelashes.

Tip: Artificial Eyelashes can be tricky to apply but with a little bit of practice you will get the hang of it. For really dramatic eyelashes apply a bit of mascara as discussed previously.

Applying the Lip makeup. To finish of your drag makeup look, you will need a few items. Lip lining pencils, a small blending blush, lipstick and a napkin.

With the darker lip pencil, start the lining from the corner of the mouth just under the bottom of your lip. Keep drawing the line until you are at the other corner of your mouth. Shape the top of the lip with the same liner.

Blend everything in with a brush, then on the inside corner reapply the darker liner on both sides.

Tip: By applying the lip liner on the inside corner’s of your mouth, this will make your lips appear bigger.

Apply a lighter lipstick to the center of the bottom lip and just a dab for the top, remember to blend. This highlighting method makes your lips seem fuller. For added dramatics you can apply some clear lip gloss or glitter to these small areas. Be creative and experiment with different color combinations.

With a little bit of powder on a napkin lightly press on your lips, as this will help your lipstick to last. Now grab your favorite wig, outfit and accessories and your ready to hit the town!
