Leger ChessConstruction201914” x 14” x 1”This lively piece combines geometric shapes with abstract imagery from the 1927 painting, Still Life: King of Diamonds by French Modernist, Fernad Leger. It actually took me a long time to figure out that Leger’s painting was referential (before I knew the title). I just really liked how the earth tones pop against the black & white, the wiggly lines and dots.My composition is made of a selection of rectangular parts with depth and dimension, straight lines and delicate pin holes. A thick green board with gold dots and labeled, “ thickness measure” tilts just off center. While a thin spear like green board “Santiago Proximity Detector” runs diagonally. The background consists of alternating stripes of encyclopedia text and patterns of repeating elements of Leger’s puzzle like shapes. The interaction of the computer parts with the surface imagery is uncanny due to the resemblance. As seen in the copper heat sinks and the yellow channeled part; as well as the dots and cut outs of the black and beige parts that occur in the back ground patterns.Technology is beautiful. No doubt about it.My work is made from recycled materials and imperfections are part of the aesthetic! These materials are limited and always change. If you see something you like, don't wait they may sell out and most likely never be made again. Finding beauty in unexpected places - I am inspired bythe variety of shapes, colors, materials, textures and patternsfound in outdated technology. I combine these three dimensional formswith alterned imagery in sculptural collage I call Hacker Creations. Working out of The Artisan's Asylum in Somerville, MA since 2012.Visit to see more of my work.Follow Computer Part Art on Facebook to learn about events and specials!Check out a wonderful video by Sara Pagiaro on my About Page.If you like it, let me know!
